I need some help intalling my new VALET model 712 keyless entry system on my 94 suburban. I have spent several hours researching this site, and while informative, I have not found the information i need. The suburban came from the factory with power locks, now i want to have a remote clicker.

There are six wires comming out of the 712 that relate to the door locks. The language seems to be in some sort of code,  "normally open/closed, 87,30,87a, negitve power input, output, etc". The relay diagrams on this site are helpful, but i cant find any relays on my truck? I tried to splice into the wires comming off of the drivers lock switch with out success.  Do the relays (when found) have tabs for connecting wires?

I have considerable experience working on older cars, but have not invested much time in electronics.  Help if you can.

The '94 Suburban uses positive triggers to activate the door locks. You can find a wiring diagram for your truck here. Use this information to find your wires in the vehicle. Then use this diagram and wire your system up matching the relay terminals with what is listed in your manual. The diagram listed here actually shows more than what you need, since your relays are internal you do not need to worry about pins 85, and 86, and since the system is a positive trigger you will have no connection to the wire that goes to 87a.

Hope this helps.

Keep us posted.

Thanks for the reply.  The first link is dead, and when i search the wiring diagrams for 94 suburban it only offers alarms etc,   In the second link am i looking at a relay? Is this roughly what i need to be looking for under the dash?

I just rechecked that first link and it works fine in multiple browsers. If you go to designtech-intl.com and click on wiring diagrams, you can choose your truck from a drop down menu and then select keyless entry.

NO, you are not looking for that under the dash. You will use the diagram from this page to cross reference it with the wires listed in the installation manual of your 712T. Then, after you have made the appropriate connections on the 712T, you will connect the outputs from the 712T to the 2 wires in your truck that control the doorlocks.

Thanks for the information. I am not clear on the diagram part yet. If I dont look under the dash, maybe i look in the door. It makes no sense. I will print all the stuff off and go to the garage, hoping it will make sense once I get working.

I figured it out and now have a remote that will unlock and lock the doors. Thank you so much for the help.
