This is my first ever alarm install and I am going nuts trying to figure out how to make the power locks work.  This is the only reason I wanted to install this alarm. I got everything else to work accept for that.

I have a 86 Chevy s10 blazer. I went on viper's site and downloaded the install book for this alarm but instead of it being the 550HF its the 533. I look and everything seems to be the same accept for a few wire colors.  Now my problem is when I hook up the 2 wires for the door locks (1 wire unlock 1 wire lock) it does nothing. I checked the wires with a volt meter and it shows me that it shoots out 12v when I hit the remote button. I hit it 1 time and the lock wire sends out voltage another time the unlock wire sends out voltage. So I tool my door pannel off and hooked the wires upto the unlock and lock wires comming off the switch and nothing happen. I did exactly what the book said to wire it up between the Relay and the lock mechinisum.

Am I hooking it up wrong? Can anyone suggest on what I can try. Its hard to explain my problem in typing format.

Another thing I noticed was that this alarm has a set of 4 relays and there is 1 black wire that comes off of it and I have no clue on where it goes. If i ground it out the relays stay open no matter what I do.

I spent 7 hours on this the other day and I came out with nothing. I am almost ready to give up, but I can't quite yet.

Hey Eddyis21,

Normally on the relay pack there isn't a black wire instead there are pos, ign, acc, start.  When you say that you have a black, is it a large black coming from a relay with a large green as well?  If so then this black is part of the starter kill set-up.  Before I say more, give me info about this black.

Ok I think I have this figured out in my brain now. I did not think that I have to use a relay to do this. I thought it was a type A (viper calls it) system. Now that I look harder I see that its a type C. Am I correct??

Many domestically-made GM vehicles use Type A locks. However, many more GM vehicles are Type C than in previous years. The full-size pickups (1989-up), many of the S10 Blazers, the Corvette, '95 Cavalier/Sunfire 1993 - and newer, Camaro/Firebird all use Type C door locks, and cannot be controlled without a 451M! Almost all domestically-built Fords are Type C. Ford builds almost no Type A systems. Chrysler builds both Type A and Type C, so use care.

Also this alarm came out of a 97 mustang.

Should I eliminate the 4 relays that are connected and basicly start from scratch or leave them in place.    Now that I think of it I see that the alarm system does not come with these relays hooked up, am I correct?   I am about to goto my car and look over all the wires and see what I come up with. Hopefully it clicks in my brain and I get everything to work.   posted_image

Hey Eddyis21,

You got it!  A type C is a reversal system. If you plan to hook-up the remote start feature then yes you will need to connect the four relays.  The 553 install manual is O.K. for wiring help.
