I'm in the process of installing a clifford 3.5rs on a auto 1997 Toyota Corolla All wires are hooked up correctly and the alarm works excellently -all zone checked out (hood, door, trunk), ignition kill works (car wont start when armed, start when disarmed), door lock works, etc- but I am having a bit of trouble with the remote start. In the beginning I had all 3 12v constant from the relay satellite wired up directly to the battery but that only begun the start routine (relays clicked, dash lights up as if key in on position) but does not crank.. I tried different wiring as follows Red3 to 12V constant on ignition harness
Red6 disconnected
RED / White8 disconnected
-car cranks but not long enough to start-
Red3 to 12V constant on ignition harness
Red6 to 12V constant on ignition harness
RED / White8 to 12V constant on ignition harness
-car go through start routine, dash lights turn on, relays clicks but wont crank-
Red3 to 12V constant on ignition harness
Red6 disconnected
RED / White8 to12V constant on ignition harness
-car cranks but not lone enough to start- And every other attempt seems to yield the results from attempt 2
this is driving me nuts, i'm not sure what it can be.. I tried tach learn (start car with key, as soon as it starts hold valet sw. The LED just lights up constant and I let go) but that didn't help.

That's odd indeed, how did you wire up the relay satellite?

Heavy gage relay satellite connector
1) Purple (+) starter output to starter - BLACK/ white starter side
2) Green starter input from ignition - BLACK/ white key side
3) Red (+) High current 12V input - (batt - now ignition constant/white wire)
4) Orange (+) output to accessory circuit - BLACK / YELLOW accessories wire
5) Pink (+) output to ignition switch - BLACK/ orange ignition wire
6) Red (+) 30A high current input - (batt)
7) Pink/White (+) output to secon ignition circuit - (no scond ignition)
8) RED / White (+) 30A High current 12V input (batt)
remote start harness:
H3/1) BLACK/ White (-) Neutral safety input - ground
H3/2) Violet/White Tachometer input wire - tach wire from instrunment cluster
H3/3) Brown (+) Brake shutdown wire - Brake switch (tested to work)
H3/4) Grey Hoodpin input - Hoodpin (tested to work)
H3/5)Blue/White (-) rear defogger - unused

Check the riddon harness make sure it's plugged into the brain and relay pack all the way. also make sure none of the wires are cut.

Hi, thanks for reply.. believe me bro I checked/rechecked the wires listed above at least 5 times and the ribbon is definately plugged in. The alarm I brought new from a shop so none of the wires are cut.. Any ideas??? I am going totally nuts!

Both reds and the RED / white must be on constant hot each one powers different parts of the xcrs pack and they are all needed. For a test, why don't you set the unit into voltage sensing mode, put your crank time at 1 second, and see what happens. You may have a tach wire that is not correct. If it starts and runs in V/S, then try moving your tach.

Hi bro, thanks for the suggestion.. I have installed a aftermarket tach on this car before so I am certain I have the right wire. what I will do is run a temporary wire out to the distributor coild just to be 100% sure. Well but the thing is the ignition dont even crank when red6 from the relay pack is connected. Can it be a bad relay pack?

ok I connected the tach signal directly to the distributor coil (the tap into back of gauge cluster was lose).
BUT it still dont work! :( The new development is
Red3 to 12V constant on ignition harness
Red6 to 12V constant on ignition harness
RED / White8 to 12V constant on ignition harness
-car go through start routine, dash lights turn on, relays clicks but wont crank-
Red3 to 12V constant on ignition harness
Red6 disconnected
RED / White8 to12V disconnected
-car cranks endlessly bur wont start-

actually the tach signal from the dash wasn't lose.. for some reason my aftermarket tach connected to the same source reads correctly when the PURPLE / white tach sensing wire is disconnected and incorrectly when it is connected, I will make the distributor coil the main tapin but remote start still dosn't work.

Is there a security light anywhere on your dash?. Could be a dealer installed toyota alarm in the car. Under the dash does there look like there's another harness that could be plugged into the igniton switch? If that's confusing post up a pic of the igniton harness of the car. The other thing you can try is putt the key in the igniton don't turn it or anything and try remote starting the car. If it starts then it's defininately a toyota alarm in the car. To disable the alarm during r/s you'll have to find the keysense wire and hook the status output from the 791 up to the keysense.
