Hey guys, new around here, but have a big problem. I am trying to hook up (2) 2 wire door lock actuators... to lock and unlock, polarity is reversed, and this is hooking into a 791xv.. This is the diagram I am working with.
it is not working for some reason. the motor legs rest at ground, and when you switch polarity the lock either locks, or unlocks... the viper 791xv is putting out about 1.7 VDC on the lock-unlock wires. they are hooked into pin 86 on the left relay, and 85 on the right relay (as pictured above) have 12 VDC wired to pin(s) 87, 85 (left) and 87, 86 (right relay) with a DMM on pin 30 on both relays, hitting the lock or unlock button no voltage is read on pins 30... I see this diagram given as advice quite a bit, and it seems to fit my application, what am I doing wrong. I can hear the relays clicking after I hit the lock/unlock buttons, but still no voltage on the 30 pins... thanks, Mark

I have tested the relays, and they seem to function properly as well... anyone have any ideas>? Mark

is the alarm working ok is there good power sources for it.. you should be getting -12V on the lock and unlock from the alarm..
if you take away the alarm lock wires and just touch a neg off the 86 on the relay does it move the actuator

the alarm works perfectly fine. I get about 1.7v off the lock unlock wires. I shouldn't be getting a full 12v off those wires anyways... thanks, Mark

just to add to that, if the unlock / lock wires put out 12v off the alarm brain, then I wouldn't need the relays, I'd just wire them to the actuators themselves... Mark

The 791 offers alternating outputs for lock and unlock, but these outputs are not strong enough to drive actuators, only factory relays. You are only concerned with the negative pulse output from these wires, not when they pulse positive. If you are confident that you have the relays wired correctly, try tapping the "left" relay's 86 to ground, this will activate that part of the circuit and cause the actuator to move to the lock position if all is correct. If it does not move, you have something wrong with the relay wiring or the actuators are bad (highly unlikely to have 2 bad especially if they are new). If it does move, try tapping the "right" relay's 85 pin to ground, this will activate the unlock portion of the circuit and should move the actuators to the unlock position. Try this and get back to us with your results.

think your mixed up there mate
you need to see -12v, the reason it won't drive actuators direcrky is because the brain only has 500mA outputs

I have the same alarm in my other car, and it works just fine hooked into the factory electric door locks, putting out about 2V to lock, and unlock... and besides even if I put a constant 12v on there it still doesn't work. Mark

The image is for negative triggers. If you're hooking up a postive 1.7vdc on 86 of the left (lock) relay, then ground 85. As for the right (unlock) relay, ground 86 and feed the 1.7VDC to 85.
