Alright guys I did a 791 in a 06 colorado and wired up the 2 relays rather than using the bypass mod. measured the resistance on the wire , and got the resistors on the dot. Car started fine when it left the shop and had no check engine light. Customer called back a few days later and was having a problem with the check engine light, I cleared the code and remote started it several times, drove the vehuicle around no light. Several days later back again light is on, any ideas? oh ya the starter wire was tagged under the hood as well, and all wires are testing correct.

CHECK ENGINE light, ABS light, or SERVICE ENGINE SOON light stays after remote starting the vehicle. o Check that the vehicle’s ignition wires and accessory wires have all been properly interfaced and they are energized when the remote start is activated o Check that none of the vehicle’s wiring harness connectors are unplugged. o On 1995-Up Chevy trucks, there is a second ignition wire (PINK or PINK/WHITE) that MUST be energized when remote starting the vehicle. If this wire is not energized, the CHECK ENGINE light will come on and the vehicle will not shift properly. o On some 1993-1997 Intrepid, Concorde, Vision, and LHS models, there is an 18-gauge RED / WHITE wire in the ignition harness that must be powered as an ignition wire when remote starting the vehicle, or the SRS (airbag) light will come on. There may be as many as 3 RED / WHITE wires in the ignition harness. The correct wire will show 0V with the key in the off position and 12V in RUN, and CRANK. The incorrect wires will show some amount of voltage with the key off.

Does the Check Engine Light come on from the Remote Start or with Key Start? Be sure your Resistor is not changing Value from Heat or Cold.
What color Starter wire under hood? & why? ------------- MO

Why would you tag the starter wire under the hodd ? The starter engages after the ACC wire falls out so you don't even need to have the starter wire attached.

for starter disable the starter wire must be tagged under the hood, this was an automatic, not a manual.

I don't put Starter Kill on these.
Without the Key.......I don't think a thief is going to fire it up...

yeah, but it is still one more thing a customer will complain about if you dont do. Its not like it takes to long to tag it under the hood.

I would want to ByPass the Starter Disable. It could be causing the Check Engine Light to come on. Also change out the resistor Relays for a Good ByPASS Unit......... ------------- MO

Truck has factory anti grind, the ECM controls crank..... doing a starter kill is pretty much a moot point on this vehicle.
I would imagine the ECM is seeing the starter unit cranking the vehicle out of time with it's own crank signal, and is throwing it off. On comes the light.
Pull your starter kill..... probably is what is causing your issues.

Yeah I don't do starter kill on those. I always use the 2 relays on them, H3's, Canyon, Saturn, etc. Never have a problem.

Last time this happened to me- one of my ignition hots was actually an accessory hot- even though the factory defaults says ignition hot- I always look at the insides to see where the jumper is at from then on...

ok have you noticed if there is a second ignition on the truck? if there is your going to have to power that up with an additional relay other wise you can possibly* damage the transmission and other components on the car. check your schematic and make sure you are powering everything necessary in order for the truck to run. clear the check engine light and try my theory other than that i have heard from DEI Snake Pit instructors that the GM passlock II module does not work with the colorados. well good luck with the install hope you can add to this thread.
