I installed a phoenix 2 into an Eclipse. Everything worked fine after the install. A day later she came to me and said that the alarm wasn't sounding. I asked her if she hit the toggle switch. She said that she bumped it and put it back to the original postion. I looked up in the manual and reset it to sound again. It worked fine again for about 2 weeks. Then it stop sounding again. Once again I asked her if she bumped the switch. She said no. I reset the horn option again. It didn't work. I tried resetting many settings. They all seemed to work execpt that the horn wasn't sounding. I test the alarm and it still works, flashes the lights and the starter kill is still active. She had to leave and is coming back this weekend for me to look at it again. Well since I last looked at it she called me. She says that if the alarm is active and she opens the trunk the alarm sounds. I told her to reset the alarm and try the doors. nothing, it only works when the trunk is opened. I was thinking the horn was bad or perhaps a loose wire. Now with it sounding on the trunk I don't know what to think.

I had a similar problem with a 562T DEI piece, the 562T offers a silent lock option. You activate the silent lock by pressing aux then lock or unlock and the unit will skip the horn honk for that sequence. The owner some how turned off honking all together, but panic still worked (dei lists how to do this via remote in the manual but I could not get it to come out of that mode using just the remote). I resolved the issue by going into the programming menu and resetting all factory defaults; then changed all the settings back to where I needed them. This really is not a fix, but more of a work around. The person has not come back with any problems since.

I would also look into relocating the toggle if it can be 'bumped'.

Hope this helps.

Keep us posted.

I will try resetting everything. I remember now too that she broke the remote and we had to program the remote to arm/disarm from the one working button. Maybe we should look into getting a new remote.

I was half kidding about getting bumped. I had the switch wire tied up behind the ash tray. I showed her how to get the alarm off if she didn't have her remote. She told me she bumped it, but the wire tie was cut and the switch wasn't in the same area where i put it.
