just needing some information on where to get a keypad starter for a vehicle. if you have seen the movie The Transporter where his BMW (ultimate driving machine) is only started by a keypad rather than a key that is what i want to do. does anyone make such a product or will i have to rig something up with relays to make this work. i have an older BMW i want to do this to before attempting it on a newer vehicle. also, it would be good to see a product with wiring diagrams on it before i purchase because i also want to integrate my remote start into it. anyone know where i can find info on this type of product it would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Didn't see the movie, but Crimestopper made / makes a Unit called Steal Stopper that is a Numerical Key Pad that engages a Relay.

Sounds like you'd need to use your remote starter to handle the interlocks and crank timing, if you're not controlling it from the key. The keypad would be the easy part of the project-
How are you planning on handling the ignition key's function in switching it to the run position and steering column lock? Were you planning on doing away with it entirely?
If not, you're best off just setting it up as an interrupt for the starter or fuel system and using the ignition key as usual; more secure that way to boot, since it'll require a key in addition to the code.

I have keypad starter kills. never seen one that turns on acc and ign. and engages starter.

you could fig up a starter kill one to urn on acc. and ign. then have push button starter i suppose

yea we worked on a BMW several years ago that had ignition problems and we put a start button on it and that was kinda cool but i'm wanting something that i can start and run the vehicle on without using a key. my current vehicle i don't really care about getting stolen since it is kinda my beeter car. i guess i need something i could program to have a sustained output after the code was entered so i could use a relay setup to imitate having the key in the car. not real sure about the wheel lock portion though now that i think about it. but i'm not opposed to pulling the key cyclinder out for this project. thanks again for all the posts.

Other problem might be how to control the shutdown- if that's done through the keypad too, it'd be riskier if it's a one button shutdown, or if it's set up to require a code input to toggle, then you can't shut down immediately in an emergency situation. There's probably a good way to do it, but nothing too easy and simple.
Might be better to continue using the regular ignition key switch along with the keypad.

thats the way its meant to be done.. use the keypad just for starter or ign. kill. i done a button start before and just used 2 micro toggle switches and a micro push button
