I have 2005 f150 supercrew w/keyless entry, remote doorlock.I am new to installing alarm systems.I purchased a autopage rs-725 lcd.Is this a decent alarm or should i look into something else. Also,on box it says "now with ap data link serial port".Could you explain what this is used for?

I have never had any trouble with the Autopage branded equipment. I think their programming menus leave a little to be desired, but all in all they have performed well.

They do not give a really detailed description on Autopageusa.com of what the purpose of the ap data link is. However they do show that they teamed up with fortinautoradio and from the looks of it, you can purchase the module you need, and plug it into that port, eliminating the need to wire the bypass/databus integration piece into the remote starter's harness.

2005 F150 wire colors/locations. You will need a bypass module as well, either a key-in-a-box type of bypass, or a data based solution. The ones linked here a just a couple of examples made by one manufacturer, there are others available that perform the same functions.

Hope this helps.

Sorry for so many questions....I dont know if this matters---The day i brought the truck home after buying it,i parked it in driveway.Next morning it wouldnt start.Dealer came to my house and removed something small under dash-i think it had a led light. Then the truck started. Also, could i change something in the steering column instead of the bypass? Thanks again.

I do not know what the dealer would have removed other than an aftermarket starter kill or something similar.

To do a remote start in your truck you will have to use a bypass, there is nothing to my knowledge that you can remove to get around the transponder based antitheft from the factory.
