I have a compustar remote start alarm. box is model cm3000. Every time i start the truck (99 gmc jimmy) it starts fine waits 2 seconds and shuts off. it does this 3 times and quits. Acording to the manual it should flash the lights a set number of times to tell me why it wouldnt start but it doesn't. I have it all wired up becouse it was working a few months ago (got in accident and alarm was taken out when they fixed it) I have a dei 555l for the passlock and it is working fine (no service engine light and it runs fine for those few seconds). I have hit the learn button a few times and it flashes 3 times and waits 3 sec then another 3. It is on voltage not tach. never got it to work on tach. anybody got any ideas?

Sounds like an issue with passlock bypas in the car.  Is the theft light flashing rapidly when the truck is trying to start?

I'm no expert by far but from what I've read the tach is the way to go.

Go to www.bulldogsecurity.com and find the wiring diagram for your truck to locate the tach wire.

Just my 2c.

Good luck.

it's tach, set the switch inside to tach sense and hook your yellow/black wire up to the WHITE/ black wire at the ign coil on top of the engnie, when you hit the prog button the lights should flash once only.

Hello-

I'm also having a problem which I am almost certain is a bad brain.  I have everything working except two things, one is the RPS.  No matter how hard I tap on the glass high frequency and all, nothing happens.  The LED keeps blinking it never goes soid, and I never get a page.  More important though, the system never attempts to start the car.  I have programmed tach, and all is well with the ACC1, ACC2, and IGN, but the relay on the board never clicks, and there is no voltage coming down the yellow wire.  This system is install in a 2001 Pathfinder.  It is a CM3000A v.3 brain.  Has anyone ever heard of this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Spencer

If all else fails run off the injector instead and make sure that you flip the dipswitch back over to ON position for TACH sensing.

Do you have the RPS programmed ON ? YOu can turn this ON & OFF via the remoet control. If you have the 2 way remote control you will see a little icon of a phone on the windshield to let you know that this function is ON.

The LED is suppose to be blinking all the time when armed and OFF when disarmed.

Did you cut the jumper wire on the CPU ( GREEN / WHITE ). Also, ensure that you have both starter wires hooked up & also the Immobilizer module is operating proerply with the STATUS output wire from the Compustar is outputting a (-) signal.

Do you mean the YELLOW/BLACK wire ? Also, there's not suppose to be voltage on this wire as it's an AC signal. How are you testing this connection with your DMM ?

Yes the phone icon on the remote is on.

Yes, it blinks when armed, however in other Compustar installs when you tap the glass and the sensor is triggered the LED goes solid for a few seconds and then starts blinking again...

THere is no jumper this is the CM3000A.

Coming out of the main connector there is a yellow wire which is the starter wire.  It goes to the starter kill relay, where it combines with another yellow wire.  The yellow black wire, I believe is the keyside as to isolate the kay away from the starter to interupt when the relay has power.  The starter wire is AC, are you sure about that?

I really appreciate your help Jeff!

Thanks in advance,

  • Try turning on-off your RPS from the remote control and also see if you can unplug the RPS sensor from the unit and replug it in.
  • As far as the pager system goes, this sounds lik a bad antenna to me. Bring it back to the place that you had it installed and purchased through and get them to give you a new antenna and maybe even a new remote control. The Compustar's have a lifetime waranty if installed and purchased through an authorized dealer.
  • As far as the YELLOW wire, that is the starter wire ( YELLOW ) in the CN! harness ) I thought you were referring to the YELLOW/BLACK wire in the CN3 harness for the tach signal. When you try to remote start the vehicle does the IGN and ACC's turn on ? Where did you have the system grounded to and also do both constant wires on the CN1 harness have 12 volts  at the plug after the fuses ??

Jeff-

I am an installer I used to work for an authorized Compustar dealer, and I am installing this one in my personal car.  I have tried turning the fuction on and off, also reconnecting it to and from the brain.  I think I have a deffective RPS module.  As far as the starter goes, yes the IGN, and ACC are powered up, the fuses on both 12V+ are AOK.  The car will keep the engine running if already started.

I may just go swap out this brain...  Any other suggestions?

Again thanks so much for your help

Changeout the CPU and the antenna as well. Reprogram the system and post your results. From the sounds of it if you tested the YELLOW wire at the CN1 harness and it doesn't output 12 volts when under remote start, then the internal relay for the starter is bad.
