Does anyone know the color of the wires on a 99' Accord to install a DEI-555H key bypass module--the wires that DEI give do not match what I have. I need the "synch" wire and the "data" location and color if possible. I have trashed my harness trying to get this thing to program, with no luck. Any help would be mucho appreciated. I bought this at Best Buy and they will not give any diagrams/help whatsoever. And will not install it since I already have the remote start installed. Last time I ever go to Best Buy--just my 2-cents. Brehmster

I don't have a 555H manual with me, but I think it tells the location of the wires. Take off the steering column and you will see a 4 pin green plug at the back of the key cylinder. The data and synch wire are in there. The key sense wire (blue/white?) is in the plug at the front of the key cylinder. Do any of the wire colors in the 4 pin plug match up to the instructions?
Have you tried programming the module using different keys? Not all keys will program. What are you using for a remote starter? Some RS don't give an output on the ground when running wire quick enough to program the module properly. Try manually grounding the key sense wire of the 555H and then remote start the car with the key in the ignition. That can help with programming too. I've also seen the led on the 555H not turn off like its supposed to after its programmed, when it has actually been programmed.

I have gotten the LED on 555H to turn on(programming mode) but it will never turn off like they say it will and like you said you have seen. I have used the grey colored extra key and a regular black key--tried programming both with no luck. The green plug I used has actually 5 pins but only 4 wires in the plug and they are numbered so I went by the numbers on the plug. None of the colors match what are in the 555H manual. They gave pin outs as well as colors so I just used the pin outs. I am using a IMP-FM 2001 remote start that has a grounding when armed wire--manual says it will show ground even when remote start is in use so I think I am ok there. I guess I just need to get the 555U module and be done with it??? Oh BTW--the blue /white key sense is in a green plug just below the 4 plug harness--4 plug sits on top--does this seem correct or would the key sense be in the same 4 plug harness?? Anyway I appreciate your time, and I will try grounding out the key sense wire to see if that helps. Thanks again--Brehmster

You are right about the key sense wire being in the other plug.
I'm not familiar with that brand remote start, but a "ground when armed" wire can be different than a "ground when running" wire. Use your meter to check to make sure it is actually putting out ground when running. The remote starters my shop uses have a wire that can do either of those functions, but not both. It might need to be changed in programming to give you ground when running.
From what I have heard (and according to the manual) the 555H doesn't work on the 98 Accords. I know you said you had a 99, but check the door to see what month it was made. Its possible its an early 99 model that uses the trandsponder module of a 98....not sure if its possible, but you never know.

JWorm, Thanks for the help, you were right, the car was manufactured late 1998 but considered a 1999 model. Boy do I feel like a dumb a$%. I have been out of the installation biz for about 6 years and have lost alot skills over the years--hard to keep up with all the new technology. Again I totally appreciate you taking the time to help me out, you saved me alot of time and frustration. Thanks Brehmster
