I am having difficulty locating the negative door trigger for my 2002 Corolla. I have been talking to both Crutchfield, and Omega. I am using a digital meter and attempting to find a RED / white wire that should be 12 volt with lite out, and zero volt with lite on. All I get is low volt readings, like one or two' does not seem right. Omega told me today, that I should not be looking for voltage, but continuity. I do not understand because this lead should have 12 volts on it!?

Anybody had this come up?

Hey Jerry,

There are at least 5 RED / white wires at the fuse box, some will only pick up individual doors, meter them to find the one that will get all the doors, it will be the one that goes up to the instrument cluster, it is in a 12 pin plug on the back of the fusebox.

And if you're daring you can go to the instrument cluster itself.

Thanks; am I looking for voltage, or continuity?

Hey Jerry,

Obviously the switch gives continuity between it and ground and changes state from pos to neg because you read some residual voltage feeding thru the circuit.  Best way is with a meter on DC volt scale black to ground and probe with the red.  It'll read around 12VDC with the door closed and 0.00VDC or there abouts with the door open.  Again verify that all doors trigger.
