I'll be installing a remote start in a 2002 Taurus in the next couple of days.

Is there anything I should be aware of, or is it a straight forward install?

A few wires are different if it has Factory Keyless......
Otherwise everything is @ Driver side.....

If Radio Shuts Down When Vehicle Is Put Into Gear You Must Isolate Any Wire Connected To the Vehicles Starter Wire. Alarm = Diode Isolate The ORANGE Starter Kill Wire from the Alarm. Remote Starter = Relay Isolate The GREEN Starter Wire.

Your car has a transponder key. It may have a factory alarm. It sucks to run a wire through the firewall on that car too. You can get tach inside tan / YELLOW in thick harness near parking brake.

The car does have factory keyless entry. I saw the ECM is under the hood. Is it that hard to find a spot on the firewall?

In my wiring info it shows that alot of the connections can be made at the GEM. Yes/No?

Middle of the car....real low just above the transmission tunnel. You can see it from the engine compartment. Reach down, remove grommet. Feed snake through or shine a line through. Go inside the car...pull back carpet on passenger side. You should find the hole. Feed wires thru hole. Go back to engine compartment. Grab wires. Poke hole in grommet. Slide grommet onto wires and feed back into place.....hope you followe me there.

Other grommet is high up on drivers side. Can't get to it from the outside. Its also made of a harder material that is difficult to poke through sometimes. I have actually push it through the hole on multiple occasions. Its really hard to get back into place after.

Yes. Besides getting wires under the hood, its an easy car.

Thanks, got the car almost done. Still need to do bypass (didn't have second key till today), and hood pin/tach.I will make a note on where to poke through the firewall.

Can I get the tach sig. from the relay pack? I'll start poking around in the harness that you mentioned (parking brake).

The R/S was just that, no alarm, and no door lock/trunk pop options which made it real easy.
