Ok, its been a long time since I have had to hook up a keyless and I cant seem to get this one I am working on to work correctly. I know its a 5 wire dude, pink/yel (unlock), and pink/grn (lock) I have found and connected the wires to the correct poles on my relays, but when I hit the fob it blows the fuse everytime. I know its something stupid but I am way tired of messing with it.

Thanks

R

Which Ford model is this? Did it come with factory keyless?

F250, I dont think it did have factory stuff. I got the truck used without key fobs

Basically what its doing is blowing the supply line fuse going to the relays...I took power off 87 and switched it to ground, the fuse does not blow, but nothing else happens either

If it didn't, could you possibly have the wrong relays?

I am using the standard 4 pole bosch 30 ampers....I used to do these all the time when I installed, but I am so far removed from that now its not even funny

I am pretty sure you need the spdt relays.

That is exactly what they are, I grabbed them out of the bin at work before I left today. All of my installers are out of town or else I would call them lol...maybe I need to spend more time out in the bay since I am forgetting so much stuff.

Have you clicked on the relay tab to the left under basics?

I have tried pretty much everything so far...I thought it was a 5 wire, but now I am not so sure. One wire is hot all the time and the lock and unlock show positive when the switch is either in lock or unlock position...so I am assuming this is a 3 wire positive. But, that would mean that if you put 12V on those wires it should lock or unlock, and it sparks like hell when you do that. I think I am fixing to say !@#$ it and let my installers do it

Have you tried wiring it as a straight negative trigger?

if it had keyless entry on it from the factory then it is going to be a type C (i think) and if it didn't have keyless then it will be a five wire system. the way to test for this is to put the factory wiring back together and take a scrap fuse holder (and use small fuses like a 1 or 3 amp to test) and connect it to a ground and then put that wire to either the lock or unlock wires in the vehicle. if it does the action that it should and doesn't blow the fuse then you are gonna know that it is a negative trigger rather than 5 wire. if it is 5 wire then you will wire it as the following.

87 - fused +12volts

87a - switch side (lock or unlock)

30 - motor side (lock or unlock)

86 - ground (or +12volts depending upon what output you are using off the alarm)

85 - output from alarm (lock or unlock)

you will need to do one relay for lock and another for unlock.

good luck and hope that helps.

i was wrong, if it has keyless entry that is considered type B and if it is five wire that is type C. damn getting old sucks.
