I purchased a DEI EL indicator and was wondering if the alarm was activated while i'm away,will it flash a sequence like a normal led to let me now if something happened?

no. it works off teh ground when armed. it only flashes while armed.

So red to 12v and ground to my ground when armed output wire?

yeah. if you just touch them off a constant 12v and ground you will see it flashing away
