i have an impulse 990, my remote starts actually turns my car on, but then after maybe 4-5 seconds w/ the engine running, the engine just turns itself off. i don't know why, can somebody help me? thank you.

the weird thing about this is, it worked b4 for about 2 day just perfect, then rechecked my wireing for a different problem, and now it doesn't start and stay on anymore. pleas help me. thank you

Vin, check all your connections again. If it worked fine until you went into it again, it's likely you have a poor connection. Check each of the ihnibit wires (leads that cause the remote start to shut down) cold side of brake, hood pin, neutral safety wire (if connected), etc., and check that it has a good tach signal.

Hey vinh766,

The start then stop that you described sounds like an incorrect tach signal.  If it worked O.K. for a couple of days and now nothing it might have locked out.  The first thing I would check is the ground especially if it's grounded to the column or an under dash brace, it's better to go to kickpad at OEM ground or firewall.  Then re-learn the tach.

i have checked everything, and its still not working. you said that i might have an incorrect take signal, but how doi make it correct? i am clueless about the tach, so please le me know how to fix that problem. my alarm also came w/ a BLACK/ white wire that (in the instructions) say "wire is to be used in case remote start fails" but i don't know where its suppose to go. and how doi re learn the tach? help me please. thank you

Make sure you check the pin switch on the unit itself and that it is not on TACHLESS sense.

what do you mean by an incorrect tach signal? can i make it correct? i don't really understand the tach signal, of how it works, and how i can change it. please help me

The tach wire for the 1998 Civic is a BLUE wire by the test plug by the driver side fire wall under the hood. Make sure you have the pin switch to TACH sense.
