I have a 2006 Lincoln Navigator with a viper 160xv system installed. The systems has been installed for approx. 3 months, and has been working perfectly until today.  The customer can no longer start the vehicle with the keys.  The remotes will however start the vehicle. Anyone have any clue what would cause this?????????  I have the 556U by-pass module installed.  Anyone suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Does the security light come on when you try to start it with the key, and will it allow you to insert the key and drive it after remote started?

Unhook the 556 and try the Keys.  If they don't work:
Remove the Key from 556 & ReProgram Keys.

Yes, when I try to start the vehicle with the key the theft light flashes like crazy.  and yes, once remote started i can insert the key, and drive off with no problems.  and...... is it possible to re-program the keys without making a trip to the dealership??????

Unhook the 556 u and try it, bypass maybe triggering causing this. I think if you ony have 1 key that is working then you'll have to got to the dealership to reprogram.

Newly found information revealed that I was able to re-program all 3 keys inside the car. No need to goto the dealership. Still not sure what caused the 1 key out of 3 to go bad, but all in all it is now fixed.  Thanks for all of your input.

How were you able to program the keys w/o dealership?

you need all 3 keys to do it. I dont know if you have ever used the 556SW, or 555F bypass modules.  You program those by sticking one key in, waiting for the anti theft light to go out, stick the second key in wait for the anti-theft light to go out.... same exact procedure.  Follow this procedure for all 3 keys.

As long as you have two valid keys, you can copy up to eight more keys without the dealers help. The proceedure is right in your owners manual..
