Hi guys...what is the proper way of wiring a relay for 2nd accessory...please lay out where 85,86,87,30 should go....thanks in advance
30 - output to 2nd accessory in car
87 - 12 volts
86 - 12 volts
85 - negative output from alarm
87a - no connection
thats right. just be sure to fuse your +12 volt(s) I've learned that one the hard way. I suggest reading the section on this website about relays. Its very informative. Learning how they work will make it worlds easier for any application out there.

The correct method is
#86 to the accessory output of remote starter and first accessory wire in the vehicle.
#85 to the ground out when running wire of the remote start
#30 to the second accessory wire in the vehicle
#87 to the fused side of the remote starter's main power wire.
#87a is not used.
Failure to activate the relay with an accessory and ground while running trigger can cause vehicle problems because the vehicle won't power up all the circuits in a correct and sequenced manner. You can't just hook the relay #86 to battery power. it must be activated as an accessory wire.
That all depends on the system that you're installing. If the unit has a dedicated - accy output (like dei stuff) then you can hook pin 86 to constant +12v. If the unit doesn't have a dedicated output (magicar crap) then that's the way to go.

if you are putting in a DEI and you aren't using ignition 2 output you can use that wire and program it to be an accessory 2 output. btw, this works well i did it last week on a Ram. good luck and hope this helps.
