Hi, In a 550esp, how do you shut off the alarm using the valet button? I tried and tried, but couldn't do it. If I put the key ON, then OFF, and hit the VALET button, it goes into valet mode. If the alarm is going off, however, and I put the key to the ON position, and hit VALET, nothing happens. I've tried turning the key to ON, and also ON then OFF, and nothing has worked. I've also hit the button once....and then up to 5 times, but still no go. (I don't quite understand that anyways......it can be programmed for 1 to 5 times.......but if a thief hits the button, and it doesn't work, can't they just keep hitting it until they find out how many times you programmed it for?) Ay caramba....any help would be great.

Ok newer dei is a little tricky. First to shut the alarm off you need to turn the key to run ( one click before start) then push the valet button for one second and then release. If the alarm is set to one pulse then it will shut off about two seconds after you do this. If it is multiple pulses then you would need to push the valet button for one second then release for one second and repeat for as many pulses that the alarm is set for. As for a thief shutting the alarm off they usually just peek under the dash ( and under the hood ) and cut the power wire ,or the siren wire to give them more time to disable the alarm.

hey, thanks for the reply. Two questions: 1. Does the door need to be open or not? 2. Why will the alarm shut off for only a few seconds?....why won't it shut off completely?

1. The door does need to be open. 2. It will shut off completely and go into valet about two seconds of using the valet button to shut the alarm off. It takes about two seconds to shut the alarm off using the valet button. ------------- Certified Security Specialist

Ahhh, so just to make sure I got this......I'll put the key in the RUN position (and the car alarm will be sounding), and I'll hold the VALET button for 1 second (assuming it's programmed for 1 push), and the alarm will stop briefly. When it stops, turn the key off, and hit the VALET button again, and the car should remain in VALET mode. Does that sound right?

With an open door and key in the ignition ( with the alarm going off ) push the valet button for one second and release. Two seconds or so later the alarm will shut off. When it does this the alarm automaticaly goes into valet, DEI assumes that you lost the remote and programmed the alarm that way. You don't need to do anything after this.

Key on, button, key off, button
The first push shuts off the alarm, the push after turning the key off puts it in valet mode. It does not automatically go into valet mode.

Well, I'll give the other ideas a try too. I tried the "Open door, key in the ignition, and holding the button for 1 second", but the alarm didn't shut off. I didn't try it too long because it was late(r) out, so I didn't want to disrupt the place. Will try again. Seems like such a simple thing, too.

with the key in the ON position, correct? (door doesn't have to be open?)
