If you are interested in a two way FM unit I would look at the Commando FM-760. It is a great starter with plenty of security at a great price. here is a link: https://www.commandocaralarms.com/itemdetails.asp?Productid=1185 If you are more concerned about the Alarm options and possibilities, I hear Clifford is the way to go but they are big bucks. My opinion is that a two way unit is the way to go, once you have one you will never be able to live without one. The FM-760 is the best price and in my opinion is as good or better than any two way out there. ------------- J Rilla

I have always had good luck with DEI products. However, paying the price for Viper is ridiculous when the Hornet systems are IDENTICAL without the "pricy" name. But in the same token, if you want inexpensive with alot of features and reliability for the money, the commando system is a good one to have. ~~Derl~~

Personally I will only own a DEI alarm. They have always been reliable for me plus I own a bitwriter.

Did you purchase your bit writer? I am looking for info on it as well what I will need to hook it up to an alarm. I under stand you can make up the cables yourself. Is this true ????

For best cost to product ratio, I would recommend the Crimestopper. Here is a link to a seller on Ebay, I have purchased Crimestopper products from him, and hes a great seller. https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/dll?ViewItem&category=33724&item=2400726576 Or if you want an FM pager style, here is a link to one of those, same seller. https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/dll?ViewItem&category=33724&item=2401361476 Crimestopper Alarms/Remote starts are easy to install. I have installed 30 or so of the Remote start units (without alarm), with ZERO comebacks, and ZERO problems. Siemens Autostart ------------- Hak

CLIFFORD HAS SOME REALLY USABLE FEATURES THAT NONE OF THE OTHERS HAVE! CRIMESTOPPER AND AUTOPAGE ARE GREAT TOO AND FOR THE MONEY YOU WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY. DEI IS HIGH DOLLAR STUFF, BUT I LOVE IT BUT ITS A LITTLE HARDER TO INSTALL. IF YOU PLAN ON KEEPING THE CAR FOR A WHILE, GO WITH CLIFFORD OR DEI. IF YOU PLAN ON SELLING IT IN 1 OR 2 YEARS GO WITH CRIMESTOPPER OR AUROPAGE, BECAUSE IT SEEMS YOU NEVER GET THE PRICE OF YOUR ALARM BACK WHEN YOU SELL YOUR CAR. I HAVE INSTALLED ALL OF THESE UNITS AND HAVE ONE OF EACH ON THE FAMILY CARS. ROMADOOR@AOL.COM
