I have found through my experience that Ultrastart is the most flexible, easy to use system. We use Ultra and Compustar at the shop I work at now, and if you want strictly range, go with compustar. If you want tons of features and programming that are logically setup with simple installation, great reliability and great retail warranty, go with Ultrastart.

Features: Constant lock output and trunk release validity outputs can be used for window automation on all units shock sensor and aux/prox sensor can be programmed and temporarily bypassed thru remote for less false alarms L.E.D.'s and program switch are built into antenna so they are highly visible and accessible w/o drilling holes            all onboard relays, so unit is compact and easy to make into a clean install

Thier remote starter/alarm combos work excellent, especially in your truck. If you go with remote start, make sure you get a "databus anti theft bypass". I use bypasskits.com for them, but as long as it is databus, it will not be capable of causing the truck to not start normally with the key.

Once you use this alarm, you will be hooked.

Ultra starts are one of the best security or remote start systems I've ever installed. Not one complaint ever. The new g-series 2way will be coming out soon range is suppose to be crazy good. My vote is for ultra..................

I have the Autopage 725lcd and nothing but good things to say about their product . Was it your install or someone else's? Seems like installer did something wrong or should have changed out  brain.

i will definatly look into the ultra start, i was thinking about DEI maybe.

kamronkjc :  i went over each wire of the install and it was perfect, the alarm was in the truck for a year before it started giving me this problem.  i sent it back to autopage and they kept it for a month and then sent it back saying it was fine. during the time it was at autopage the battery never died i put the alarm back and within 4 days the battery was dead again.  i don't think they even looked at the alarm.  when i got it back i went over the wiring again.

everyine else i am still open to suggestions  thanks

Sounds like you have a poor install with the autopage. I have installed over 20 of them with no issues, definitely no slow drains...

The RS-860LCD is what I would recommend and what I personally use..other than that, look at a professional DEI install..

DEI is my system of choice, however the problems with your Autopage unit are more than likely installation related. I have done many Autopage units, I do not care for the programming procedure but have never had one come back.

Ditto on the Compustar units and on the Ultra Starts as well.

why not pull out your DMM and check to make sure the wires connected to your alarm are what they are supposed to be connected to.  Have you tried disconnecting the alarm for a period of time to see if your battery still drains.  LED's dont take enough energy away from the battery to drain it.  I honestly don't think it is the alarm, before you pay anybody check the wires with a DMM to make sure they are where they should be.  I live on opposite coast, otherwise I would check it for you for free, I'm 16, and love to install just wish I could get a job at a shop, shoot I would work for $20 a day if thats all they gave me I love it so much but hey what can I say!???

using the dmm ho would u check it?

what would u look for?

maybe i am doing something wrong.

thanks posted_image

p.s. u should goto a local shop and speak with the owner i am sure they would put u in a position off the books.

ok with your booklet from your alarm you will need to know what wires should be connected to your alarm, so that we can know what wires need to be connected to your alarm.  To test you can do it like the following.. . .

Keep the alarm connected, just be cautious not to touch a - and + together.  Look at your wire diagram for your alarm and start with the first wire connected w/e it may be, lets go ahead and say it is your ground wire.  take your DMM and set it to 12 volt DC and then take your red (positive) and attach to a costant 12volt source.  When you touch your black (negative) wire from DMM to your first wire using an example as the first wire on your harness is a ground, your DMM should show somewhere between 11.8 and 12.8 volts depending on how good your battery is, could be a lil more but you will know.  If this shows ground no matter what you do to the alarm activ. or deactiv. this is your ground.  Also compare the wires connected from the vehicle to the alarm from this link to make sure they are all connected to the correct wires.  I'm sorry if this is a little confusing.  If you would like later today as I am a lil busy right now I will go down to my car and take some pictures to give you a more visual explanation which would work better if you are confused.  I would rather try to help you out before you go and throw money away to some1, so if you can wait I can help you out.
