Hey,
My friend’s power door locks on the left side (driver’s side door and rear door) of his car went dead. He has a 2000 Dodge Intrepid and it’s a single wire locking system. He does not want to spend $160 plus labor at the dealer to install new locks. My question is can I add aftermarket actuators to the existing factory set up? If so how would I wire the single wire system to the 2 wire aftermarket actuator?

Thanks.

If you take apart the door and look at the actuators themselves, they should have two wires. They lock and unlock by reversing the polarity. The one wire setup that you are referring to is to control the locks. If you were adding keyless entry you would just tap the one wire with resistors. Meter the wires to find out which is which and it shouldnt be a problem replacing them.
