A couple months ago I installed the prestige APS997 on my 98 nissan maxima. Everything worked fine, but now there is a problem. I recently noticed that when I try to remote start the car, sometimes it doesn't start. The car doesn't even crank. Another problem, which might be related since they started happening around the same time is that my horns will sporadically beep on and off until I press the lock or unlock button on my prestige remote. During this time the prestige horn is not on. The stock horns are not connected to the prestige alarm module which leads me to think that the stock alarm is being triggerred some how.

Does anyone know what might be the problem?

Also sounds like it may be a bad ground.

Sounds to me like theres a conflict between the two alarms, I would check the door input wiring and maybe try adding a diode in line to prevent a back feed from your prestige that may be triggering the factory system.  As to the remote start issue the best thing I can recomend is to recheck all solder joints incase of a dry joint.

Thanks for the responses.

I just checked the ground and it was fine. As for using the diodes, the thing is I never had to use a diode before, even with my old alarm. Also if it was diode problem wouldn't the problem occur when the unlock or lock signal was in use?

Any other ideas? Might it be a defective unit?
