I am installing a remote start in a 2005 chevy hd deisel. Heres my problem; my remote start unit wants to see a negative input from the wait to start wire. It is 12volt positive when the light goes off. Any ideas on how to switch this. My unit needs to see 12 volts when the light is on and ground when the light is off. This truck is working opposite for me. Guess I'm just lucky that way. Any help would be greatly appreiciated, truck is in shop now. Thanks in advance.

Use a relay to convert the positive signal to a negative one. Connect the dark blue wire in cavity A2 of the instrument cluster plug to terminal #85 of the relay. Terminal #86 to ignition, terminal # 30 to a fused battery source, and terminal #87 to the wait to start wire from the remote starter. Your remote starter shouldn't need to see ground on the wire afterwards, but if it does, then hook terminal #87a to ground.

I believe those trucks have some sort of "instant-fire" glow plug setup..........I got into a customer's cold, parked truck in New Hampshire winter, and the glow plug light never came on at all.
Chances are, you could just leave the remote start in gas mode and it would work fine.

most starters set to diesel mode will wait about 2 seconds from default to fire up, more than enough time on the GM's ------------- Shaughn Murley
