I am about to install this Giordon T686FS two way alarm system (I know, interesting installation manual, my ten year old son has learnt English for three years and could probably do a better job...) in my Chevy Suburban 1995, but I'm getting second thoughts. The main reason I bought this system is that it's the only remote start alarm within economical reach that is approved for use in Norway. But now I see that there's a few "extras" that I don't like one bit!
First there seems to be a warning for when you stop the car and take out the key, with flashing parking lights. That's really to embarassing, but I think I can just not connect the parking light cable, right?
Then there's a warning if you leave the door open for more than 25 seconds after you have exited the car. This comes from the siren. And I quite often leave doors open for some reason or another. So it's not a feature I need.
Lastly there's the anti car jacking function that locks the doors while driving. I understand that may make sense in New York, but not out in the sticks in Norway! I've never had a moose trying to jack me so far... ;)
Are these "features" possible to turn off or avoid in any other way, or do I need to try to live with these problems? Or have I simply misunderstood the stellar installation and user's guide?
Thanks in advance!
I don't think I can edit posts here (didn't find a button for it), but I wanted to add that I have searched, and the only similar question I could find was by a guy called andrewb, but he has a model called G686A, and you're supposedly not able to turn off the flashing lights on that model. According to
this webpage there's:
Option for opening door with light flashing or not Option for locking door with foot-braking pushing or not But of course I couldn't find anything about it in the manual...
