I'm trying to install window roll up modules on a 2001 suburban. I tested all the wires at the drivers door switch and now I'm confused. Only the drivers window is rests at negative, the wires are positive when the switch is triggered. The other 3 doors rest at positive, the wires are then negative when the switch is triggered. The modules Ihave are for reversal rest at ground. All the diagrams I have say that a suburban should be reversal rest at ground. Somebody help me, explain whats going on.

you got two wires for each windows.

test like this

hit each wire when it throws possitive write it down for what it dows make a chart like this


drivers front
up -
dn -

drivers rear
up -
dn -

pass front
up -
dn -
pass rear
up -
dn-

and fill in the blanks you dont have to worry about the negatives because all the wires rest at ground when not in use. just fill in the possitives when you press the certain button look at the window to determine what it does than write it down and you will then know what it does.. when you test you looking for a pos 12 volts to happen and that will tell you what the switch does. thats all you need to know but writing it down helps.

from my chart all the wires are blue and brown so sorry but testing further is required unless someone else has a different chart it however says blue brown from each switch.

As for the blue and brown you're speaking of, yes on each switch on each door there is a blue and a brown that go from the switch to the motor. But on the master switch, on the drivers door the wiring is all ass backwards. I tested all the window wiring at the drivers door switch and here's what I found.

drivers front
up - Dark blue,neg at rest, pos when switch is pressed
dn - dark brown,neg at rest, pos when switch is pressed


drivers rear
up - dark green,pos at rest, neg when switch is pressed
dn - purple,pos at rest, neg when switch is pressed

pass front
up - light blue,pos at rest, neg when switch is pressed
dn - tan,pos at rest, neg when switch is pressed
pass rear
up - light green,pos at rest, neg when switch is pressed
dn- purple,pos at rest, neg when switch is pressed


The switches on the other 3 doors have the colors as mentioned above PLUS each switch has a dark blue and brown which go from the switch to the motor. These wire do rest at ground just like the dark blue/brown on the drivers window. Does that mean I'm gonna have to run wires to each door to get the window modules to work right? I'd have to cut the two motor wires in each door and extend each(making it 4 wires to extend) and run 4 wires from each door up to the dash. Is there any way around this? and is this safe? Could I possibly wire up relays or something to the drivers switch to make it work?
