Hi everybody,

Installed an Excalibur AL-2000-E remote start on this 2005 F-250 diesel today... installation went smooth, it remote started fine.. stays on for about 5 second and shuts off ...and I don't have the slighest idea as to what could be happening.  It's tachless and was told that I was missing a relay at the alternator....please help....Thanks

the easiest way for tach on those is under the dash ds of column is a little 5 wire harness with no plug taped to another harness with orange tape. this harness is the body harness for adding accessories. tach is lt green.

Mosshop, are you using a tach connection? If so, where are you getting it from?

As customak47 says, the best/easiest place is behind the fuse box. There are about five or six wires just taped against the other harness, not connected to anything. Light GREEN / WHITE is tach.

However, there have been a LOT of tach issues on the 2005-up Ford Diesels.

I know that DEI product won't read the tach signal properly, as well as entry-level Audiovox.

As an Audiovox dealer, I know that on these trucks, you MUST use the 4-button remote starter, the one with all the features like locks, trunk, and panic.

I'm not familiar with your Excalibur unit-----I think that's an Omega product, correct? Maybe you can call their tech support and see what they have to say. Since this is a known issue, they probably have dealt with it before.

Thanx every one for your input and response, I was told to run the tach to the outside under the hood, take off the plastic battery cover on the driver side and that I would see a computer module on the fender wall with 3 plugs on it... disconnect the middle one and to tap into a gray wire on it and that should work....I did it and worked perfectly....I have no idea what the hell I tapped into but it worked. Does anybody know what this module is and what it does?

Chris Luongo, I was running it tachless and yes it is an Omega product.

Thanks
