I got one of those little scanners for my alarm system because its alot cooler than the boring blinker that the stock alarm has and I have tried hooking it up the way they say and it stays on all the time. It has 3 wires, red-black and yellow. Red is supposed to be 12 v constant, black is ground of course and the yellow is supposed to be hooked to the ignition wire. They say you can hook the yellow to the orange from the alarm and it will come on when the alarm is armed. Well when you hook the red to a constant as they say and ground it (black), it stays on, and no matter what I have hooked the yellow to it stays on. Whether the alarm is active or not. Anybody ever hooked one of these up to your alarm before? I guess you could hook it to a switch but that kind of defeats the perpose if u ask me. Any info would be appreciated. thanks

The yellow wire needs to go to something that only supplies a ground when the car is off or the alarm is sending a ground when armed output. If you hook the red and black wire up it shouldn't do anything. If it is turning on without the yellow wire then the scanner may be defective.

Yeah!!!  kind of like my life right now.LOL    I messed with it and found that if I hook the red up to a constant and the ground to the orange wire from the alarm it works like a charm.  Don't ask me, I couldn't tell ya.   I guess if it works don't mess with it huh? oh well
