are starter wires usually neg polarity? i have viper 600hf, i test this wire and it is neg

viper's instruction say this:

How to find the (+)12V starter wire with your multimeter:

2. Attach the (-) probe of the meter to chassis ground.

4. Turn the ignition key switch to the start position. Make sure the car is not

in gear! If your meter reads (+)12V, go to the next step. If it doesn’t, probe

another wire.

5. Cut the wire you suspect of being the starter wire.

6. Attempt to start the car. If the starter engages, reconnect it and go back to step 3. If the starter does not turn over, you have the right wire.

the 94 Camry starter wire is BLACK/ White in the main ignition harness. There is a white connector that the main ignition harness pugs into and the colors may change on the other side. Look on both sides for your color.

are you sure your turning the key to START and not just RUN?

The Camry is no mystery. If you follow the directions exactly as you typed them, you'll see 12v on the BLACK/ white wire when the key is turned to START only.
