viper 791 trunk release sets off viper al

I have a 2006 Acura TL, everything works great, but when i pop the trunk using the viper alarm, the viper alarm goes off. It doesn't disarm. Option 2/9 is set to on. If the alarm is armed and i disarm the factory alarm with the keyfob and then pop the trunk using the viper alarm, the viper alarm STILL goes off..... Help :(

you could always disarm the Viper alarm before opening the trunk...

What wire on the Viper alarm do you have the trunk trigger wire of the car connected to?
Also, when the Viper alarm goes off, what zone does the remote show?

i have the trunk tigger connected directly to the trunk input on the alarm........sometimes it shows door/trunk together or just trunk......

The Viper manual doesn't actually have a wire labeled "trunk input". Are you referring to the blue multiplexed input wire in the main harness....the wire next to the door trigger wires? That is the wire you should be using.

yes that is the one....in the diagram on the back page it shows trunk input, but not in the first part of the manual

Weird....in the old days whenever you used the trunk release (RED / white) output and a (-) showed up on the trunk input wire the alarm would know to ignore it. Now there is no mention of it in the manual. I believe it is still supposed to work that way, although there is no longer a mention of it in the install guide like there used to be.

You seem to have everything wired up correctly.
I got a couple theories...How far does the trunk 'pop' open when you hit the AUX button? If it only releases slightly, but doesn't turn the trunk light on that could be the problem. Does the alarm sound immediately, or does it go off once you begin to fully open the trunk. The Viper needs to see a (-) on the trunk pin wire almost immediately after using the AUX button in order to know to shut down that input. A quick test...get in the trunk and close it. Hit AUX until the trunk pops. Did the trunk light turn on?

I just noticed on your post on CarSound that you are using a kit from Bypasskit.com.   What kit(s)?

not sure if the input is done from the trunk light or from the switch. It shows instantly and it shows even if its just popped and not openend on the display on the instrument cluster.

Unplug the HODL4. Arm the 791xv and the factory alarm using the OEM remote. Wait a little and use the 791xv remote to pop the trunk. Does the 791xv still go off? If it doesn't then the HODL4 is causing the problem. You will need to meter the output wires to see what wire is triggering the 791xv. I have a feeling it may be the door trigger output. If it is, I would recommend not using the door trigger output of the HODL4 and going directly to the corresponding wires in the car. Let me know what you find.
You should also check if opening the trunk causes either the door trigger output or the hood pin output of the HODL4 to become active.

The LF door is green in a 16 pin plug, pin 15. The RF door is lt. GREEN/ red in a 14 pin plug, pin 12. The LR door is GREEN/ YELLOW in a 16 pin plug, pin 14. The RR door is GREEN / WHITE in a 14 pin plug, pin 13. Located at rear of fuse box. Use all four wires and diode isolate each.

i spoke to DEI...they said the 791 is supposed to act this way and that u need to disarm the alarm before popping the trunk

One thing about DEI tech support....you could call back and speak to a different tech and get a totally different answer.

I find it weird that DEI eliminated a feature of their alarms that they had for years.

I still think the blue multiplexed input is not getting ground when you use the trunk release. In your post at Carsound others seem to agree as well.

In the end, disarming the alarm before opening the trunk is not a big deal. I wouldn't worry about it if the install is all done and everything is put back together.

I actually figured it out.......it wasn't getting a full ground, and the bypasskit i'm using grabs the dome light trigger instead of the door pin trigger which is also causing the issue because of the trunk light. I need to grab all 4 door triggers and diode isolate them but i can't find the wires.... If i can find all 4 door pin triggers i can fix it and have everything working the way it should.... Anyone know exactly where the door pin triggers are in a 2006 acura TL?

if my memory serves me, the door triggers are locate behind the fuse box, two diff harness. the box is held by 2 10mm bolts.
