hello everyone.
I searched the site to see if this has been asked...but no luck, so here it goes...
I need to hook up 6 LED's to a car, from the alarm status output. however...the current draw from these lights (whether in series and/or parallel consume more mA than the status light output gives out.
can i connect that output to a ralay to switch it from a constant 12V feed not related to the alarm module ?
the lights run off various voltages, i've already have their propper resistor running to them, i just wanted to know if the output of an alarm~status light is enough to run a relay, and would it run (turn the relay on and off) as the LED once did?
i was thinking a relay with 86 having a constant 12V feed, going to the "branching" of the LED wires from pin 30.
having the blk and red wires from the LED output turn the relay on and off. in theory sounds good...but will it work?
another question...someone in another post (Karl) mentioned the ability to turn on/of a latching relay with a single channel output...is it posible?

is there an LED flasher (that the flash rate could be adjusted) readily available, or is that a radioshack-like kind of project?

For the relay using the led output for the alarm, it depends on what voltage the alarm puts out toward the led. If it is a 2V led then that is not enough voltage to activate the relay. I know on my alarm ( DEI ) it will support 5 led wired in series. DEI also has a led module that will set what type of flash setup you would like ( it comes with 5 led but I don't know how many it will support).
