I was wondering if I could wire a relay to get my doors to lock/unlock with the ignition. I want to do this on a 97 Chevy Camaro Z28.

Could try something like this if you want to DIY:

Have to be careful putting it together if you try it though, wouldn't be good if it latched your door lock
signal on continuous if something goes wrong-

check your manual for PROGRAMMABLE FEATURES first. most of the alarms/keyless unit i have done over the years have had this feature. i personally don't like it and since DEI comes defaulted with ignition lock/unlock ON i just program them to OFF and done. good luck and hope this helps.

You know that Cadillac has this feature on some of their models; only difference is that they lock when their is someone seated on the drivers seat, all other doors closed and seatbelt on, then moving the gear selector  to D and unlock when returned to P. I believe you an find them in their Fleetwood Brougham.  Since in these models this option was dealer installed. Maybe you can find one and take the entire system, wiring, relays etc and use it for your application. If you can do this, I can help with the wiring though it'll vary to yours but maybe it'll work. It won't hurt to try it out.

i would hate to try and take something like that out of a caddy and put it into a camaro personally. it can be done but man that is the long way around the problem. i would first check and make sure that the alarm doesn't have the feature for ignition lock/unlock just to make sure you can't just program the existing alarm to accomplish the desired result. then if the alarm doesn't have that feature then you can move into a relay setup to lock/unlock on ignition. again, i personally don't care for this feature and btw i see alot of GM vehicles with worn out factory actuators so when you enable this feature will eventually have to replace those crappy GM lock motors. good luck and hope this helps.
