I  I have installed a Crimestopper 2016-FM in my 2002 Honda Accord.  Everything seems to work fine except the remote start.  When I push the start button, the car cranks but will not continue to run.  If I put the key in the ignition, it will start and run fine.  So the problem is apparently in the chip in my key.

I Is there a bypass that I need to do so that the car thinks the key is in the ignition?  I have searched the site pretty thoughroughly and cannot find the answer.  If anyone knows the solution, I would appreciate it emmensely.

I have tried to just put the key next to the ignition, but it doesn't work. The key has to be in the slot.

If the plastic head of the key is VERY close to the keyslot, it should still work, if you hold it there.

Anyway, yeah, you do need a bypass module of some sort.

Most of them require that you permanently give up one of your spare keys. The Audiovox AS-TCBM, DEI 556U, Trilogix (bypasskit.com) TBKIII are three good choices.

Or, check out the bypasskit.com site, and see if they make a (more expensive!) part that will allow you to keep all your keys. Those types of bypasses usually are tricker to install, however.
