Today I was installing a new cd player in my 2000 Ford F-150 XLT. Well, stupid me, having installing systems in many other people vehicles and I did not disconnect the ground wire from the battery when servicing my own vehicle.

Make a long story short, when I was splicing the wires off of the old factory wire harness I crossed to wire and heard a spark. Off course I blew the 15A radio fuse. I replaced it but then I later realized that my power windows did not work and were both stuck halfway down.

I've checked all the other fuses on both fuse panels (and everything is fine) and I can't seem to figure out what the problem is...has any one else had this same problem happen to them or know of any solutions.

Thanks

Well, my first guess would be checking the fuse, but since you are 100% sure nothing else is bad im stumped. I cant seem to think of a wire that comes from the factory harness that could cause so much damge.
This could be a ford problem. Try checking this forum

I had the exact same thing happen when I was fiddling with the CD wiring in my 01 F150. I ended up taking it to the dealer to fix after a buddy of mine said it could be the GEM. Sure enought it was the GEM, the only part of it that went bad/shorted was the part that controls the windows. The central junktion box was also replaced, I don't know if it was bad or what the dealership just told me it needed to be replaced. Hope this helps you out, oh and price wise, 1k. I have learned my lesson as I hope you do too, always unplug your battery. Good luck.posted_image
