Hello,

I am just starting to look at alarms w/remote starting and am curious as to what brands are good, what to look for, and what to stay away from.  Just some heads up of what has served people well and what has not.  If any other info is needed I can provide it if it matters.  The vehicle is an automatic fuel injected car with power everything in it right now. 94 Ford Thunderbird 4.6L.

Thanks in advance,

John

If its a DEI product, your preference will be in the remote . I know people are going to say Viper 791xv or Clifford. That is because little kids tell each other that is the best. (these kids dont even know that the hornet, avital, valet uses the exact same brain and does everything exactly the same)
I dont have a problem with Autopage, Prestige, or Compustar (really good, but pricey). These are all good alarm, and somewhat better than the 791xv due to all the features.
Dont let peer pressure lead you to beleive the only good alarm is Viper 791xv.
Shy away from tiny cheap systems that noone has ever heard of.
That is a list of system i have worked with, there are others out there too.

Anything made from Directed Electronics (DEI) is good stuff IMO

yeah, what captianzab said. Same post time, but his was alot more detailed.

DEI..makes,Viper,Clifford,Rattler,Python,Valet,Hornet,Avital,Sidewinder,Autommate,Failsafe,Merlin,Wasp,Equalisers,Pro Guard, and Stealstopper just to name off a good few

do some homework on all the alarm/remote starts you can find out there, look at everything they have to offer, that way you can make a educated desision about what you want, then listen to a few opinions. I agree that most will say the Viper 791, which is great...but it may not be the best one for you.Good Luck.

OK....I have been checking alarms out now and seem to think the Hornet - 563T is a good choice or an equivalant DEI product.  There is one other one that I am looking at and trying to figure out who makes it and that is Automate - AM7.

The 563T is $155.

The AM7 is $90.

Just trying to get feedback on either of these or if anyone knows about automate and who makes it good bad indifferent it doesnt matter.

Again Thanks for all the help in getting me to make a better decision on alarms.  Have been able to rule out several that I was considering. whew

I think I will go with the AM7.  It seems to be very similiar to the 563T can't really justify paying that much more.  If anyone has anything to say that would help me out between those to chime in.  I am going to buy one tuesday.
Thanks all

John
