In general, how do you hook up a remote start system to a car that has multiple ignition triggers? Thanks a bunch, todd

relay set up using neg trigger igintion wire (thin wire from alarm)
85- iginition turn on wire from alarm
86 & 87- 12v
30- to igintion wire of car
But usually the remote starter has 2 iginition wire. If a car has a third, its probably not need for the r/s part

The vehicle is an 05 toyota matrix. The r/s system will probably be the Scyteck 5100rs. In other remote starts that I have installed; typically the system will have the primary ignition wire (red or yellow) and the secondary (white). Is there anything special that I have to do with the "white" wire (relay). What kind of signal does the second ign wire normally carry? key on, acc, or only receives + when starting the engine. I am sure that I am making this way more complicated than it is, but it has always confused me. thanks, todd

i think that the wire wire from the alarm is to turn on the relay. (cant find diagram for that alarm). But that relay setup above is right.
To test iginition wire. Turn to run position it should show 12v. Now turn to the start position. It should only drop a tenth of a volt, not all the way to zero and read 12v. If it drops to zero, wrong wire.

Just did another Matrix this morning---it's a pretty easy car.
The Matrix has two ignition wires------ a BLACK/ white and a BLACK / YELLOW. One of them allows the engine to run; the other powers up the climate controls and other items.
Both wires behave the exact same way, and it really doesn't matter which one you connect as Ignition 1 or 2.
The blue/red accessory wire on the Matrix powers up the radio, mirror controls, and other non-essential items.......I prefer the radio to remain off during remote start, so I don't connect it at all.....but that is up to you.

Todd, you sent me a private message about whether your car needs an interface.
Corolla and Matrix 2005-up have an anti-theft transponder built into the ignition key. You will NEED to interface with this, or the remote starter won't work.
You can get any of the universal transponder bypass boxes that are on the market, but they require that you PERMANENTLY sacrifice one of your spare keys.
Audiovox AS-TCBM, DEI 556U, Trilogix (bypasskit.com) TBKIII/TBKIV, Omega PASS-4.........they're all a little different, but pretty much the same idea.
You might also see if bypasskit.com has a no-key-required bypass for your car. They are usually more expensive, and more complex to install, but it allows you to keep all your keys.
