I'm installing an audiovox prestige alarm in a 2003 maxima, the maxima has factory alarm that needs to be defeated i beleive, according to dei i can use the unlock motor wire for this but its on a 5 wire system and i'm sure i'd have to manipulate an spdt relay in someway to get this work (at least according to audiovox, they said to check the door lock wiring supplemental and i cant find that anywhere) so if someone can gimme some help wit that and anything else i might need to look out for in this car id appreciate it

ok basically i just looked over the info cuz its got the info on the 5wi relay setup in the relay section but directechs says a factory disarm defeat wire has to be hooked up under the security section, but that same wire less is curiously absent from the keyless entry wiring info so i just want to know do i have to do anything about the factory alarm disarm defeat or will the factory alarm arm and disarm with the lock and unlock like it says toward the bottom of the wiring guide? thanks for any insight

That's not what the disarm defeat wire is for.
But anyway, when the doorlocks are connected correctly, the aftermarket alarm will also arm and disarm the factory alarm..... no need to do anything else.
If you're installing remote start too, that's okay.....the factory alarm automatically disarms when the car starts.

so i should just hook up the door locks like in the diagram for the 5 wire alternating locks shown in the relay section of the site and i should be good? or is there an easier way?

No need for relays.
The locks in that car are simple, low-current negative wire, and can be connected directly to the alarm.
The lock wires are inside the driver's door, at the power window switch. I forget the colors, but the tech sheet you have should list them.
There is one wire that will test as a ground when you turn the KEY (not the rocker switch) to the lock position in the door..........connect your Audiovox's lock wire there........that'll lock the doors, and arm the Nissan alarm.
There is another wire that tests as ground when you turn the key to the unlock position..........connect your Audiovox unlock wire there........program the new alarm for double-pulse unlock.
(The first pulse on that wire disarms the Nissan alarm and turns on the domelight......the second pulse is what unlocks the doors.)
Even though it sucks to run wires into the driver's door, there is something that will help you. If you look closely where the factory wiring goes from the door into the car's body, you'll see a small, black, unused grommet on the body, just below where the wires are.....you can run your new wires through there to make it a little easier.
