I am installing a remote start into a 1997 Volvo 850 tonight and I am a little confused on how to wire the parklights. I am using directtechs.com and it says "Use relay to isolate switch side of wire to prevent car from unlocking on arm." It doesnt tell you the info on how to wire up the relay. If someone can help me I would really appreicate it.

I finished everything in this car but the locks. Can someone help me out. I thought i found the correct wires by the way they test, but for some reason only the lock button will work. Also for some reason now my unlock switch in the car doesnt work, but the lock does... Finally, the programming section will not enable me to go to menu 15 to change unlock to double pulse. I hit the valet button 15 times then hit and hold again, but no lights on the valet 561r brain light up. I was able to program the brain for voltage sense, but it wont let me access menu 15 for some reason. Also why isnt the unlock button working in the vehicle now.

The parking lights are POS(+) White @ the switch.....nothin tricky there! I didn't really understand your 1st post? I believe you need to unlock before remote starting to disarm the factory security, and lock after remote starting ....correct?

I know its positive, but directtechs says something about "Use relay to isolate switch side of wire to prevent car from unlocking on arm." It also says that on bulldogsecurity. Im not really worried about the parklights, im worried about the lock sytem. For some reason the unlock button swicth in the car does not work any more. IS there anything special about these locks? I cant seem to get them to work properly. I dont know why my lock switch doesnt work

Why do you seem to think there is a conection between the parking lights, and the door locks? I don't believe there is?

I think he might have messed up his door lock module or something (the CPU controlling lock/unlock). Try checking some fuses. If you cant lock/unlock from the passesger side, it would mean something with cpu or fuse.

Yeah see the parklights are weird. ANyways I have them hooked up as regular positive and they work fine... I am putting in the valet 561r unit in by the way. I got the switch inside the car working it seems to get messed up randomly if i keep trying to unlock form the valet unit's keypad. I dont know if it has something to do with a factory security system or what. I am making some progress, I have ignition controlled door locks working it locks and unlocks, but if i just want to use the keypad it will not work. The funny thing is I can lock and unlock with the remote if the drivers door is open, the second I close the door, only lock works. If I keep trying to unlock eventually the switch in the car will stop working. So im thinking this car needs something to turn off factory security.

Well...the parking light are not 5 wire. Standard POS(+) pulse will work just fine!
