It's supposed to be a blue/red or blue wire in the gray connector, pin 23 at the ECM but there's no wire at that spot. I tested all the rest in that connector but can't locate one that does the 1-6 volts AC.
Anyone have ideas? I'd really rather not go to the engine compartment to locate a tach wire. Thanks.

Forgot to mention it's a V6.
This is for a Compustar remote start installation.

At this point I'm open to pulling the signal through the firewall. So if you have any information about where to pull the signal from either inside or out I would greatly appreciate it.

There is a test connector under the hood, by the battery or the drivers shock tower. It has a black plastic cap with a single blue wire in it. There is usually blue tape holding it to a harness under the hood. It is there for the V-6 or, hope this helps.

There is no test connector under the hood on 2003 and up.
I've always got the tach wire at the ECU on that car. The half dozen or so I have done were blue. I don't recall ever seeing a blue/red one. I don't think it varies with engine idle either. It will meter around 2-6 volts AC.

I've seen a couple that measured that low (most were either 0v or ~30v AC) but none varied much at all with the RPM's. Shouldn't I see a variance when racing the motor?

I just did a 4cylinder and it was the blue/ red. it was the easiest route. Remove the corner plastic trim on the console where it meets the dash(both sides) and run the wire under the dash through the console to the passenger side. If your wire is not blue it should still be the 23 pin.

For the record, it was a RED / blue wire, pin 30, on the gray connector.

Here we go again, the Brake wire is supposed to be BLACK/ White + at the brake pedal switch. There's a BLACK/ white wire there but it doesn't test positive on pedal push.
If anyone has info please post. I will continue to investigate and report back.
