viper 5000 is AM

791XV and 591XV are FM

true it is AM

actually these units are only Responder "looking", not a true split bandwidth FM Responder unit....

I'll agree with the answers of kgerry and extreme1.

The 5000 has a much slower response time compared to the 791 and 591.
