Hi folks

Have a Clifford Avantguard 5 in my car, and was once upon a time able to connect it to a laptop with 9-pin serial, running XP and Cliffnet WIzard Pro 2.20

Now have a new laptop, with XP, SP2 and all the latest updates - but have to use a serial-to-USB convertor (Bandridge CPL4201). The Cliffnet software sees the Com port, is able to determine that the Avantguard exists, is disarmed and that the ignition is on - but when it goes to interrogate status it just sits there for a long, long time.

Has anyone been able to get Cliffnet Wizard to work with a serial-to-USB adaptor ? If yes, I'll just try another adaptor. If not, I'm going to have to resurrect an old laptop from somewhere.

Thanks

Frank

The Wizard system doesnt work with a usb-serial adapter. It is a known problem. There is going to be a new version of the DEI software available soon which will allow programming of Clifford via the cliffnet and Viper via the ESP. It will also be able to run on handheld units as well as the normal XP systems. Until that is a available i would dig out the old laptop.

Ouch... well, thanks for that. I'm not registered with DEI (bought my alarm from the States for my own fitting) so doubt I'll ever get to see that update.

BTW since my States-based Clifford source has dried up where is a good place to buy Cliffords ? Since I change cars from time to time, I have had to install a few inferior (in my own opinion) alarms recently since I have been unable to buy Cliffords.
