I recently purchased an X-Shield 900S for my avalanche - 2 way remote start and alarm.  I also purchased the DEI 457GW passlock interface.  Can anyone give me information on what wire connects to what wire in each harness?  I wish everyone used the same color codes.

The 457GW will have it's own set of install instructions  fairly simple to follow.

Thanks for the link,  Are all remote start/alarm wirings about the same?  It seems so to me....

do you know if a 2003 Avalanche has positive or negative  triggers?  I thought I had everything pretty well wired but I cannot get the door locks to work.  I thought once you wired the 457G to the unlock and lock wires of the alarm/remote the databus worked the doorlocks?  I must be missing something?  Help!

It should be controlling the locks. Maybe try reprogramming the 457G. If that doesn't work, you might want to try tapping the lock or unlock wire of the 457G directly to ground and see if it works. The ground from your alarm may not be strong enough.

be sure you follow the programming directions on the 457G; hold the button while you plug in the harness ,etc.  It will not work properly without following the programming procedure.

So I tried the ground tapping to the unlock and lock wires and they triggered immediately when the wire touched the ground.  What does this mean? So what do I do then, connect them both to a ground?  I have read other posts about the 457G and hardly anyone has had luck with them there must be a trick.

I just installed a new alarm and remote start for my Avalanche. The part I cannot live with is the remote start will not work unless the parking brake is on.  Since I live in Florida, and the world here is flat, I NEVER use the parking brake.  How do I bypass it?

is it for a manual transmission vehicle? Ive never heard of an E-brake bypass before.

you don't....its a safty feature that should NOT be bypassed. Is your avalanche a manual trans, or auto. Also what did you install?

Things that help "us" help "you" are, year make and model, and exact model# and manufacturer of the unit you installed.

I read the past post about your installing the sheild 900s. I'm betting your trying to hok the brake wire to the parking brake. You don't need the parking brake since this unit is NOT for manual trans. Check the install instructions again....the brake wire goes to the foot brake, it's used to shut down the remote start.

There are two wires, Pink for the Brake pedal and Brown for the Emergency brake. The instructions clearly say the E-brake wire must be attached for the remote start to operate.

It is a 2003 Avalanche Z71 all of them are automatics.  The alarm R/S unit is a X-Shield 900S with 2 way paging.  I am using the DEI 457G for the databus interface, but cannot get the door locks to work! any ideas.  If someone had an understandable set of wire to wire instructions, this would probably go alot easier.  I thank all of you guys for all the postings elsewhere, I found all the information very helpful..

I would say just ground it and call it a day.  Check to see if the hand brake input wants gound or 12v.....more than likely ground.

The door locks are controlled via databus : https://www.directeddealers.com/manuals/ig/accessories/N457G_10-04.pdf

Use the light green & blue wire from the module to arm & lock or disarm & unlock the truck.

I guess the question of the day is what wires do the Green and blue wires connect to on the alarm system.  is that the only place they connect.  What is the negative door trigger for and what does that connect to on the alarm system?

Look at the diagram on the 457G and it tells you wether or not it's an input or output for each wire. The door trigger is an output so you want to attach this to your (-) trigger input on the alarm system.

OK  everything seems to work all right, but it seems odd that the doors lock 10 seconds after I unlock them.  I must have something wrong.  Any ideas.  Sometimes when the remote start is used, the "service brake booster" info is on the display.   ?

When it does this is the engine running? If so that may be a safety feature from GM.

Yes the engine is running when the service brake booster is on.    But as far as the door locking after 10 seconds, any ideas.?

could I have the wirong wire for the door pin trigger?  Would that cause the doors to lock so fast.

What is the deal with the door pin trigger?  I installed an x-sheild rs and aftermarket alarm in my 2003 chevy avalanche.  i used the gmdl4 and a 555L. all works fine but I keep getting a alarm about 10 seconds after locking the doors.

The alarm/RS has a green wire to connect to the negative door pin trigger. Can anyone tell me what wire specifically i connect this to. does it connect only to the gmdl4 or what? if it only connects there, what wire?  if else where, what wire and where can I find it.

Any help would be greatly appreciatedposted_image

on the GMDL4, what wire color is for the door pin trigger.  the instructions are not clear.  Also if I connect this to the negative door pin trigger from the alarm/ remote start, will this work with all the doors?

the door trigger wire from the alarm is green (-) trigger, connect that to the 457g , then the 457g has a gray/black wire that say's domelight input , connect that to the same color wire for the domelight on the bcm of the avalanche that's located under the driver dash.now connect the door locks, unlock (-) and lock( -) from the alarm to the 457g. now ground the black wire of the 457g to the driver kick, to the metal for a good ground, any other place you ground the 457g won't work or you'll have problems. now follow the program instructions to the 457g and you'll be set.good luck. p.s. the 457g will control the passkey too without cutting the ORANGE / black passkey wire. used it on a 2003 Silverado worked like a champ and saves you install time.
