hey everyone, i did a python 460 alarm in a 2006 chevy silverado 2500hd non deisel today and got everything working, but there's a problem... when i arm, disarm, or go into the programming menu, i dont get any chirps. so basically anything that is supposed to chrip, wont chirp. the alarm will go off when its a full siren signal or when it exits a programming menu, but doesnt do any chirps of any kind.. lights flash like they should, but quietly (no chirp) any idea what the problem could be?

here are the wires im using..
negative head lights from the headlight switch (yes i switched the jumper)
negative door triggers from the bcm, all 4 diode isolated and fully functional.
power and ignition from the ignition harness.

so again.. everything is working fine, all doors trigger, starter kill works and full alarm goes off if ignition is triggered while armed, or after a few seconds when a door is opened.. (its supposed to chirfp during those few seconds before the full alarm, but it doesnt) panic sets off the siren too. im stumped and thinking its just a defective brain... any ideas?

Have you tried check the power and ground connections at the siren?  Could be a bad siren too.

yea as soon as i got the problem i figured it was a bad ground, so i went back and re-did the power and ground to both the siren and the alarm, but still got the same problem.

have you tried clipping the wire on the siren to delete the soft chirp?  Perhaps you're just not hearing it?

no i havent tried that actually.. i dont think thats the problem but im willing to try the suggestion tomorrow at the shop. the reason i dont think its that, is that the siren still goes off really loud when its at full alarm.

the siren will still sound the alarm at full volume, it just cuts the volume of the chirps in half unless you clip that loop.

yea i kno how it works, but the siren should stil be slightly audible even without that loop cut, the hood was open and siren exposed, and still no single tones. but ill still try it tomorrow

that's true the chirp should still be audible.

I would also suggest to check your voltage on the brown siren wire and see if you get the 12V pulse when it's supposed to chirp.  If you do, then I'd have to conclude that you've got yourself a bad siren.

have you check that you got the chirps turn ON in the features sections.

Arm the system by pressing the AUX button first then the LOCK button within two seconds. If she chirps then it's because the chirps are turned off . . . change the chirps to ON like swamprat said.

yup, tried that as well.  had to go through the program menu with the LED as a reference since i had no chirps.. got into the menu and tried toggling chirps on AND off and still no single chirps.  it does the extended chirp, after you exit the program menu, but still no single ones during the warn away, the initial chirps when you open a door, arm/disarn, program menu, zone bypass notification, i still need to meter the brown wire later and see what kind of read out it gives me.
