Keyless/Remote Start in 01 Monte Carlo

I'll be installing an Audiovox remote start/alarm in an 01 Monte Carlo on thursday at work and am curious if anyone has any good tips. According to directechs, It needs a module to bypass the Passlock II, (or relays) and a module to control the doorlocks (or relays). According to directechs it requires a 556LW or a 457GW for the Passlock II. It says it requires a 456LW for the doorlocks but states that the 457GW will not control the doorlocks if you use this module. Where I work we don't sell the 456LW, and I was under the impression that the 457GW was the replacement for this module. I'm going to try the 457, and see if it will control the door locks, but I am curious if anyone else can confirm or deny whether this will work for the doorlocks and passlock II, or if you have any nifty tricks that might make my life easier.

the 457 will not control the door locks on an 01 monte.  Best bet is just use a 555L for the passlock bypass and relays for the doorlocks.  The 456L isn't really needed, it just makes it so you don't have to deal with resistors.

Those cars are pretty easy once you've done a few.

Takes a little patience and technique to access the ignition and Passlock wires without cutting yourself......they're held in place under the dash by a couple of heavy white zip ties; undo those.......also, there's a sharp black plastic ridge; cover that with duct tape so it won't cut you.

555L works fine for the Passlock.

Trunk release is negative at the switch, no relay needed.

Your solution seems very simple and apparently it worked for the Impala. I was planning on trying it Sparkies way (thats what was running through my mind) but I like your idea. Thanks for the help!

Got it done today, went very smoothly except for the fact that I had to pull out a junk poorly installed alarm (I hate t-taps) before I could even get going. After that it went smooth as ice, thanks for the tips, saved me lots of time!
