I am installing a designtech remote start/ keyless entry system in a 2003 jeep grand cherokee. i bought the JDL-PK transponder bypass for the start and the door locks. i have all of the wires hooked up and everything seemed to program fine and when i hit the remote start button on the transmitter the horn honks and the lights flash and the ignition comes on just like its supposed to but then the main 30 amp fuse blows. its like just when its ready to start it blows. i checked all the connections. nothing seem to be shorted out . if anyone has any ideas i would appreciate them
thanks, trent
Double check your accessory and starter wires on the vehicle with a test light or volt meter. Make sure when you turn the key to ACC that you get 12 volts on the wire your connected to. Double check that the wire your attached to for STARTER is going 12 volts only when cranking. Sounds almost like one of those heavy guage wires (like the starter) might be actually connected to a ground wire instead of STARTER wire. Colors on the wiring diags aren't always exact so using a voltmeter or test light is much more reliable. Just an idea. Sometimes when I think all my connections are right I find that I overlooked something.

thanks for the reply. i found out that it was some bad help i got from a tech support guy from designtech. he told me to hook the parking lights up wrong. i called again tonight and someone who knew what they were talking about told me what to do and it works great now.

Awesome, glad everything worked out. I just spent the day pulling out a perfectly good Bulldog RS-602E and installing a Viper 790xv Responder into my Hyundai Elantra. Went pretty smooth though considering the wires were previously found. Alot more wiring on the new unit though. Anyway, take care.
