Can someone clear up rumors that I have heard about newer diesels not needing wait to start delay for remote start. I have heard from a couple of installers that 2005 and up diesel motors no longer have glow plugs there for they dont have to wait to start. Is this true? Thank You for any info.

The delay needed is about 2 seconds. Most remote starters power up the ignition for at least 2 seconds before cranking the engine. On those units, adding additional delay is not needed.

I take it that it does not matter how cold it is. Is it always 2 seconds?

No, it does matter if it is very cold. The GM Duramax diesel's still have a wait to start circuit. It is the dark blue wire in cavity A2 of the instrument cluster plug. It is a negative circuit. You can either hook into this or if your remote starter has the option, you can program it to crank after 20 seconds. The regular glow plug input is hooked to ignition and will activate the crank circuit after 20 seconds even though it still sees 12 volts on the glow plug input wire. The better way to hook up the starter circuit is to tie into the wait to start wire. In most cases the truck will start within a few seconds of activating the remote starter.

03-06 chevy curamax needs no more than 5 seconds of wait, in fact the manifold heater gets to 1100 degree F in about 2 seconds.

I set mine to 7 second wait (autostart) and let er rip.

Any reason why the service brake system would come onafter installing a remote start? The truck started just fine with no check engine light. After putting the truck back together we started the truck again and the check engine light a the service brake system came on.  Is there anyway to clear these codes?

Try disconnecting frh battery for about 15 min.  Might also want to check and make sure all the nessecary ignition wires are being powered up.

Fixed the problem. The installer accidently pulled the ignition plug loose from the column and the truck died. When restarted the warning came on.  A tech from a body shop said he replaced the steering column in a 2006 2500 and the same thing happened, he said to drive the truck at least 15 miles and it would clear its self. Sure enough it did. Thanks guys for all the info. Wouldnt know what to do without this site!
