Unit: Compustar 2W900FM-AS
Vehicle: 05 Subaru Impreza STi
Transmission: Manual (please disregard the AT versus MT trannies, its not my big concern)
Problem: 900FM unit wont let me use A/T mode. I cutted the loop but i still had to use reservation mode.
Question: Was there soemthing wrong w/ this unit or did i left something out?
Jeff or anyone thats familiar w/ compustar units, please chime in.

The units come pre-programmed from Compustar. Cutting the loop doesn't do anything anymore. If you want it to work in automatic mode, you will need to get a new brain.
You find the NSS wire ok and wire it up as I described?

Unless you have an "older" unit. Did I read your post correctly, you have a manual transmission vehicle...and you wish to use the remote start brain in autotrans mode?? You don't want to have to monitor the door pins and ebrake? Sorry, but I'm confused! Whats the benefit?

The car has a wire at the ECU that indicates whether it is in gear or not. I already told him how to wire that so it won't start in gear.

yeah te NSS is perfectly fine but the loop got me puzzled.
so theres no way around gettin the unit to go into AT mode?
rightnow, the customer is using reservation mode, which is fine.

Jeff was asking if the sticker on the brain said CM3000, CM3000A, or CM3000M.

just CM3000. i remember the brain # because the customer didnt have the install manual and i had to use my own, so its just CM3000.

If you hooked up the parking brake wire with the loop cut it will still want to go into ready mode.

thats teh thing, i knew the ebrake was for the reservation mode, so i didnt hook it up at first. until the error displayed (7 flash), i hook up the ebrake and use reservation mode.
so what exactly is that loop for?

Older units the loop determines transmission type. Winter of 2005/06 Compustar changed the units so they are programmed a certain way from the factory that couldn't be changed. Its to prevent a customer from taking his manual transmission unit out of manual mode and putting it in automatic mode causing a potential safety concern. I have a feeling they did it to prevent possible lawsuits.
I had a few units that still had green loops last winter that you couldn't change the transmission type on. I have a feeling they were shipping units that way for a short period during the changover to preprogrammed units. You may have one of those units.
I'm not 100% on all this, I'm just basing this on the 50-75 units my shop used last winter.

That's good know. I am still cutting the loop north of the broader. The MT and AT sticker on the unit like Jeff said, I still have not seen them yet. Supplier In the GTA must have lots of old inventory remaining. ------------- Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.

I have not seen any of these so called MANUAL /AUTO only units here in Canada yet. I'm not sure if we're going to or not, but I haven't seen any ( may only be a US thing ).
