I have a 1998 Audi A6, 2.8 Quattro. I have 2 alarms and would like to install one of them. I don't have a lot of experience in alarms as I am more of a car audio specialists.

These are the 2 alarms I have:
-Refurbished Clifford Solaris 5 (returned my clifford ACE 7500, was defective) also, the doccumentation that came with it says that it is a G4, but all websites say it is a G5. Any suggestions on how to tell? I'm guessing that the "Solaris 5" means G5.

or

-NEW Viper 560XV with 2 LCD 2way Responder remotes and the Responder antenna receiver (I was told this is basically a 791XV, and the 560 just doesn't have the 2way remotes) Is that true?

Now..
It seems that the Clifford has a lot more wires than the Viper. I installed the Clifford ACE 7500 myself (with help of hte install manager at Circuit City) and I am not doing it again. I have a very good installer that knows Cliffords and Vipers inside-out.

Remote start is an obvious function I want. Being able to control the windows is a major plus, if htat is an option on either. Last, would be opening/closing the sunroof. That would be a great!

If there's are any other information I left out that that is needed, please let me know and I will fill you in ASAP. Also, if there are any cool options that can be added to either of these alarms, please fill me in.

Thank you in advance for any information that you can provide me, it is very much appreciated!

I was not sure, but I had a feeling that this was the case. I was hoping that the Viper was the better b/c it has the cool LCD 2 way remote. Just by looking at the wiring that the Clifford comes with it seems to have more of "something", lol, I don't know what, but it's twice as many wires as the Viper, they must be there for a reason!

josh, if you were to have the 2 alarms sitting in front of you and you had to put one in the Audi, would you pick the Clifford? I'm just hesitant after my last Clifford crapped out on me (remote start wasn't working, which made my car not start sometimes) I'm somewhat scared to p
put it in. The last Clifford was made in 99 and I don't think Directed Electronics owned them then. Now DE makes Clif and Viper, so they should be pretty much reliable as one another, or am I mistaken on this?
