I installed a remote start on a o5 monte. When i hve the parking lights hooked up it triggers a service vehicle soon light when not hooked up no light:errr:.  I have them hooked negative trigger white wire at the bcm. Any ideas?

I ended up using a relay to isolate the signal. Next time I will use the negative at the switch....

Yeah, messing around with the relay to isolate at the BCM is no fun.

There are two parking light wires at the switch......a BROWN / white positive trigger, and a light blue negative trigger.

In the past, I remember a tech-support guy from DEI saying that if you mistakenly applied positive power to the light blue wire, even once, the BCM could get damaged.

If you're installing a brand where the installer chooses parking light polarity with a jumper or fuse........such as DEI or Code-Alarm, remember that if the remote-start brain gets replaced in the future under warranty, the other installer might forget to move the jumper to the right spot....................

so, if that's the type of unit you're installing, and you're using the negative wire, you might want to consider a diode inline for safety.

I install ultra starts, I just started using there tech/ultra web it listed positive trigger parking lights. from the past I know it triggers the service vehicle soon light. I guess I'll have to invest in wire magic again.

Positive parking lights won't trigger the SES light, at least not in any of the cars my shop has done.

The only thing that would trigger the light is to get the lights negative, at the BCM, and fail to isolte it away from the BCM with a relay or diode.

I show 3 listings on UltraWeb for 05 Monte Carlo. The 2nd and 3rd listings show:

Parking Lights: BLUE   (-)   AT VEHICLE LIGHT SWITCH
