Installed a remote starter on a 2002 Ram, Now the check engine light comes on. Anybody know what the right connection is for the second ign. wire? I THINK this is the problem. Any other ideas? ------------- -Mark

SECOND IGNITION-----------------red or RED / wht |+ | ignition harness Will require a relay unless your RS unit is capable of outputting a 12 volt current to this wire. ------------- Jeff

Ive seen this problem with an older dodge durango - by chance; did you happen to pull your tach reference wire off of an injector wire? This is what caused the problem in the durango - problem was solved by finding another source for tach signal, and could have also been resolved by setting the remote start to check voltage (although undesirable) rather than tach

I had same problem on a different car though, it might sound simple but I unplugged the battery for twenty mintues, pluuged it back in and drove around for awhile and the light went off

I have seen starter kill relays cause the cruise not to work on a Dodge, and hence the check engine light, but you need to have both Ignition wires so i bet that is the problem.

As Velocity said energize the Red or RED / White. Small gauge off of Ignition switch. If not energized the transmission makes noise when driving.] Prost....Mel ------------- Someone pass me that bottle.

Some manufacturer's require the 2nd ignition to be powered up when the primary one is energized to power up the transmission computer. If the transmission computer does not turn on, the transmission may not shift properly or may not get out of a certain gear or it will rev higher in RPM's.
