i have varying info here... anyone know if the Brown 2nd Acc MUST be hooked up for R/S?

It doesn't need to be hooked up. There is a green second ignition wire that does though. You must also only use the light blue wire in the headlight switch harness to trigger the parking lights. It is a negative trigger circuit.
